MACHINE LEARNING ETHICS
You’ve hired the best data scientists, built the best machine learning model that gives the business unprecedented accuracy. What could possibly go wrong?
Come and find out how you can unintentionally create discriminatory models, how to spot them and most of all, how to not be that organisation that puts out a controversial model.
BiD in conversation with Itoro Liney.
Itoro Liney is a Data Science and Analytics manager at Principality Building Society. Her role is to help the organisation make data driven decisions by embedding a data culture, and enabling her team to provide insight to the business.
In her previous role, she was a customer insights Analyst at a large UK insurance company where she used machine learning as well as statistical and data visualization techniques to generate customer insights. Prior to that, she was a micro-electronic engineer leading the design, manufacturing and testing of power electronic devices.
She is also carrying out a PhD in Computer Science at Kings College London. Her research is focused on algorithmic bias in the financial services sector. She is working to understand the limitations of current bias mitigation techniques and find new ways to identify and mitigate bias.
