BBC StoryWorks is the BBC’s branded content studio – part of BBC studios, the home of British creativity. BBC StoryWorks Programme Partnerships creates multi-award series for global audiences telling the stories that make a difference but don’t always make the headlines. By collaborating with influential organisations, we identify the innovation, ambition, and impact of some of the most transformative endeavors shaping our world today. Campaigns, causes and passions are explored and unveiled in human-led stories from across the globe.

The Data Analyst for BBC StoryWorks, Programme Partnerships is responsible for studying our campaigns, identifying trends and insights which will inform our future campaigns. You’ll be working within our dynamic London-based marketing team and collaborating with colleagues  from the data team around the world. 

The day to day will require tracking of campaign performance, using tools such as Google Analytics, delivering reports to clients and monitoring key performance indicators. You will play a central role in supporting BBC StoryWorks Programme Partnerships approach to storytelling through branded content and audience development from a data-centric point of view by identifying reporting trends, performance benchmarks, and audience behaviors that inform our creative strategy.


This role is for you if: 

  • You like finding stories in data.
  • You enjoy digging into the ‘why’… You want to understand why certain stories engage people better than others and you want to know why certain campaigns perform better than others.
  • You enjoy presenting and communicating the stories that data is telling.

Responsibilities include: 

Campaign Performance

  • Proactively understand KPIs for campaigns.
  • Monitor the engagement and overall performance of active content marketing campaigns to ensure successful delivery against client KPIs. 
  • Create and deliver comprehensive reports (Excel, PPT) informing partners of campaign progress at key reporting milestones. 


Data Analytics

  • Monitor, analyse, and optimise campaign performance using AT Internet, Google Analytics, and data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Run campaign reports and share actionable insights and recommendations with key stakeholders to improve performance.
  • Provide forecasts of campaign performances for campaign pitches.


Insights & Trends

  • Benchmark data in collaboration with BBC StoryWorks global counterparts, collecting best practices and key learnings from campaigns delivered around the world. 
  • Collaborate with editorial, sales, and research teams to discover trends and audience behaviours that can help inform proactive creative strategy.
  • Maintain current knowledge and awareness of digital media landscape (specifically the branded content space) and leverage learnings to further differentiate BBC StoryWorks Programme Partnerships.



  • Based in the UK. 
  • Familiarity with the following:
    • Digital media landscape.
    • Social media distribution tactics and ad networks (including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google).
  • Understanding of analytics tools and ad-serving technologies (such as Omniture, Google Analytics, Moat, IAS, Google Ad Manager, TripleLift, etc.). We will be able to provide training on these tools also. 
  • Mastery in Excel to manipulate data using pivot tables, lookups, IF statements, etc.
  • An ability to work quickly in a high-pressure environment.
  • A great sense of humour, self-motivation, and the ability to both collaborate with a team, and work independently.
