Team Structure

The Technology function is comprised of the following teams: Development & Business Intelligence; Solution Delivery; Application Systems; and IT Service Delivery (Service Desk, Technical Support, Change & Adoption, Service Management).

This role sits in the Development & Business Intelligence team and reports to the Digital Transformation Manager.

Main Responsibilities

The Data Analytics Tester works closely with business stakeholders and the technology team to review and test business intelligence (BI) solutions firmwide including but not limited to validating the quality accuracy, reliability, compliance and performance of reports, dashboards, data pipelines, and general data analysis solutions.

The role’s primary accountabilities include:

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams (data analysts, finance systems analysts, data analytics developers, accountants) and business stakeholders to
    • Develop and execute comprehensive test scenarios for BI reports and dashboards
    • Ensure data accuracy, security and compliance around legal performance metrics are accurately presented on BI reports and dashboards.
  • Verify, validate, and analyse accuracy of data models used in reports to ensure data synchronization and consistency across different platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to digitise and streamline operational data handling and optimise business intelligence capabilities.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop a detailed understanding of the components that make up business intelligence and analytics reporting.
  • Review data specifications and requirements with data analytics developers, business analysts and enterprise architects, and develop test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration and performance testing of reports, dashboards and data analysis solutions; document and track related defects and issues.
  • Work with cross functional teams to review and to ensure data accuracy and compliance of reports
  • Contribute to the design and development of data architecture and on-prem and cloud data warehouses.
  • Contribute to the business intelligence and data analytics roadmap planning for continuous improvement, and process evolution.

 

Core competencies:

  • Financial data and business intelligence reports analysis
  • Legal practice management systems, legal workflows, case/matter lifecycles, document management processes
  • Testing methodologies using predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
  • Data quality, data integration and data validation testing
  • Descriptive statistical analysis.
  • Management of expectations by proactively building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaboration with other developers, architects, business analysts and subject matter experts.
  • Preparation of pre and post testing documentation.
  • Proactive assessment of process improvements, with the aim of improving accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of data

Attributes/Skills Required

  • Must have finance systems or accounting experience. Aderant experience within the legal industry highly desirable.
  • General system integration experienc
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of data visualization and testing in a professional services environment
  • At least 3 years of experience in data analysis testing or a similar role using agile practices.
  • Proficiency in SQL or other data analysis tools and languages
  • Experience with Azure Data Services (Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Fabric) highly desirable.
  • Experience with data analytics, report curation, data modelling, data profiling
  • Confident and clear communication (verbal and written) with people at all levels of the business hierarchy.
  • Ability to respond quickly to requests, manage time effectively, work under pressure and prioritize conflicting demands.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with both internal and external clients – A team player who is self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Ability to untangle complex problems in imaginative and creative ways.
  • Exposure to ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus.
